In the "Becoming God's Miracle" conference this year, we used this material from Becoming a Contagious Christian by Bill Hybels and Mark Mittleberg. My style is serving. What about you?

Leadership learned from Jethro
Abraham's father-in-law is a great leader as described in Exodus 18:13-27
I learned that:
Being a leader
I learned that:
- Leader is able to see reality. Jethro saw the reality and advised Moses. How to see reality? From data, look outside the box, and through silent time with God.
Being a leader
- is not about making oneself more powerful, but the people around you more powerful.
- Connect diverse people together.
- Provide direction.

Punchbowl
I went to the Punchbowl Cemetery after work today. It was such a beautiful day. I parked my car, walked down the grassy slope and read the tomb stones of the past heroes.
Some of them were Navy sailors, a lot of Army soldiers, a few Marines and Cost Guards. There were also some wives and children sleeping under the green blanket.
I calculated the length of their lives. The shortest one is less than one day old. The longest one was 90 years old. Most of them had 50-60 years of lives.
If I am a normal sailor, just like most of them here, I am more than half way of my life.
Looking at the rows of tombstones, "life is so short," I pondered.
Why would I worry about things around me today? They are just like mist, and will be evaporated shortly.
"Trust in the Lord and Do Good."
"Dear God,
I am contempt because I have you,
the creator of Heaven and Earth,
who worth my praise and all the glory!
There is nothing worth looking at in this world.
I pray that you will show me your path and help me to walk on it.
May my desire be yours as well. Amen!"
What stage will I be in November? wa kali masen
But I know that God has already prepared the best for me,
and I know that
I will start teaching in Awana this week,
I will go to my first mission trip to New Orleans next month,
and enjoy a wonderful trip to Italy soon!
Cheers!

Waiting on God
Sermon by Dr. Jon Young
Psalm 37: 1-11
"Fret not yourself because of evildoers;vbe not envious of wrongdoers!
For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!
Fretnot yourself; it tends only to evil.
For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.
But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace."

Now What?
Psalm 37: 1-11

3 Principles of Waiting on God
- At least as important as the thing we are waiting for is the work God wants to do in us while we wait.
- Other believers have gone through circumstances similar to ours, maybe more difficult, and have found God to be sufficient.
- God promises His resources to us in proportion to our struggles (1 Cor. 10:13; Heb. 4:16)
Waiting on God
Don't: Fret (v.1, 7-8)
Do: Be confident in the Lord and Do good (v.3,5)
Don't: envy wrongdoers (v.1-11)
Do: delight in the Lord and Commit your way to Him (v.4-5)
Don't: lash out in anger (v.8)
Do: Determine to wait on the Lord (v.7)
Now What?
- How is God working on you (as you wait)?
- Who can be your prayer partner?
- Will you determine to wait on Him in His strength and by His will?
